We had our first scorcher of the summer last night at Fenway Park, and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Grinding it out drenched in sweat while making great photos – that’s what it’s all about. It brought me back to working at Camden Yards, where games like this are the norm once summer rolls around.
With heat like this usually comes late afternoon storms or really good sunsets, so I headed up to the decks in right field and shot as the sun went down. I got really lucky on the first photo you see above. There’s nothing like a David Ortiz grand slam to add some fan excitement to your cliché sunset picture.
I was also very happy with the last image of the kids playing in the water mist machine. I waited for about twenty minutes hoping for a moment like this, so I was pumped when it happened. It’s quickly become one of my favorite photos I’ve shot.
