Photos: Clay Buchholz Country Western Night Portraits.

Here are some portraits I shot of Boston Red Sox pitcher, Clay Buchholz, last week, to promote the upcoming Country Western Night event at Fenway Park.

The last slide is the final advertisement which is currently displayed in newspapers, magazines, and signage around the city.

One of my goals for this year is to get better at shooting portraits, so this was a great opportunity to practice, and was a solid exercise to build upon.

Boston Red Sox Photos: Sunday, May 24, 2015 vs. Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim.

First baseman Mike Napoli continued his hot streak, launching a home run and a double that powered the Red Sox to a second consecutive win to end the home stand.

Here are a few images from the day.

It feels great to get a win! It’s amazing what a difference it makes for taking pictures when your team plays a good game. The pictures just come more naturally.

Here are a few from last night. The Red Sox won 8-3, powered by two monster home runs by first baseman Mike Napoli.

Hoping we can carry that energy into another win on a beautiful Sunday today in Boston!

Boston Red Sox Photos: Thursday, May 21, 2015 vs. Texas Rangers.

I’m back at it at Fenway Park for a short six game homestand. Here’s a few from last night’s game against the Texas Rangers, although there wasn’t a whole lot of pictures to shoot on the Red Sox side.

Hoping for some wins this weekend!

Photos: Volvo Ocean Race Departs Newport.

Here is a third and final post from the Volvo Ocean Race in Newport, this time from the send off and departure on to the next leg of the race, which will take the six crews to Lisbon, Portugal.

After some less than desirable weather through the weekend, we finally caught a perfect day. Blue skies, high winds, and warm temperatures – “champagne sailing,” as they apparently call it.

Coincidentally, I felt like I finally hit my stride shooting, so a combination of that and the conditions made for a fantastic day out on the water. Shooting off of a chase boat at 30-40 knots was an adrenaline rush. There are worse ways to spend a Sunday!

Here are a few of my favorites from the day. Looking back, I loved every minute of this sailing experience over the past week, even the low moments in the pitch black in the middle of the night. I owe thanks to the team at Getty Images for asking me to shoot this for them, and for the talented, hard working team at the Volvo Ocean Race for their help and support through the week. It was great to meet some new people.

I hope I’m able to shoot more in the future!

Photos: Volvo Ocean Race Newport In-Port Race.

Here’s a second post from last weekend at the Volvo Ocean Race in Newport. These are from the in-port race, which happens at every stopover along the route. The six teams raced within the Narraganset Bay, giving spectators an up-close view of some really exciting racing.

My knowledge of sailing, and racing in particular, is relatively low, so from a photographer’s perspective, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. This was the first time I’ve shot a race like this, so it was a great learning experience. I quickly learned that it’s all about positioning, and half the battle to getting good sailing images is getting the chase boat in the right place.

This is a mix of features around the racing village before the race and action from the race itself. Despite the gray skies and flat light, I’m happy with a few of these.

One more post to come from the send-offs tomorrow!

Photos: Volvo Ocean Race Awards Dinner.

I was back in Newport this weekend to shoot the finale of the Volvo Ocean Race’s only North American stop over. This was an incredible weekend, and I have a lot of photos to sort through, so to keep it all straight I’m going to break it down into three blog posts, one per day.

First, we begin with the Sailor’s Awards dinner on Friday night, which was held at the Marble House, one of the famous Newport mansions originally built by the Vanderbilt family. It was also the site where The Great Gatsby movie with Robert Redford was filmed. It’s a beautiful space, and a perfect backdrop to shoot a sailor party.

These are a few beauty shots of the space and the event itself. More sailing action to come!

Video: Google Wearables in Healthcare Pilot Challenge.

This is a video I co-shot and edited from the second annual Wearables in Healthcare Pilot Challenge, held at the Google Inc. headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The event allowed guests to live demo some incredible wearable products and pieces, including Google Glass. It also featured pitches from ten finalists, who presented creative and innovative ways to use these products to further the medical and healthcare profession.

I was asked to produce a short recap video for MedTech Boston and Medstro, the wonderful producers of the event. This video is a good representation of what happened throughout the night, but can also serve to promote future events of this type.

The backdrop of the hip, trendy Google offices allowed for the creativity to flow naturally for this video. The locked off shots are mine, and the smooth Steadicam shots are done by Boston Red Sox video productions member, Kellan Reck. It’s a healthy mix of the two styles, with some time lapse and GoPro footage mixed in.

Thanks to MedTech Boston, Medstro, and Google for having me out!

Photos: Boston Red Sox 1975 40-Year Reunion.

Here are photos from the 40-year anniversary and reunion of the 1975 Boston Red Sox team.

I’m a week late to post these, but I wanted to make sure that I didn’t forget about them. I obviously wasn’t around for the 1975 World Series run, but I understand the significance of it, and know that it was and continues to be a big deal to a lot of people.

It’s neat to be up close to so many heroes of the past – Tiant, Fisk, Yastrzemski, and Rice to name a few. Shooting things like this remind me that baseball, and sport in general, is timeless.

A great game by center fielder Mookie Betts and a Red Sox victory helped make for a great night.

Photos: 2015 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Gala.

Here is a selection of photos from the 2015 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum gala in Boston.

This was a fun one to shoot. As you can see, the already beautiful museum looked better than ever with the extravagant decor put together for the gala.

Thank you to the Museum for having me back to shoot! It’s always a pleasure.
