David Ortiz was honored by the New York Yankees last night, as he played the final game of his career at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Former Red Sox teammate Jacoby Ellsbury, and former New York Yankees David Cone and Mariano Rivera presented Ortiz with a series of gifts in a special pre-game ceremony.

In his second at bat, Ortiz walked and exited the game, completing his farewell tour in the Bronx.

Well, that was one of the craziest, weirdest games I’ve ever covered, but after a strange and complicated series of events, the Boston Red Sox are the champions of the American League East Division in 2016!

After a tight seven innings of shut out baseball, the Red Sox finally broke through over the Yankees on a two RBI double from Mookie Betts to give Boston the lead. Then in the ninth, just as the Red Sox were ready to celebrate on the field, the Yankees mounted a crazy come back, capped by a walk-off grand slam by Mark Teixiera to win the game. While the Yankees celebrated on the field, the Red Sox walked off knowing that they had already clinched the division with the Toronto loss to Baltimore that happened just minutes before.

A very strange way to win the division, for sure, but what this team has accomplished this year has been incredible, and the guys still celebrated with champagne in the clubhouse.

Here are photos from all of it! This is one I won’t forget, for sure.

I’m here in New York City, where I’ve linked up with the Red Sox after their weekend in Tampa. Going into this series, the team has a magic number of one to clinch the American League East division. So, with just one Red Sox win or one Toronto Blue Jays loss, the Red Sox will be celebrating on the field and popping champagne in the clubhouse. If it has to happen on the road, what better place to do it than at Yankee Stadium?

The stars didn’t align last night, as the Yankees pulled through on a victory and Toronto beat Baltimore, but everyone feels good about tonight.

I’ve been to Yankee Stadium before, but this is my first time shooting here. It’s been an awesome experience so far!

The Red Sox stayed hot and beat the Baltimore Orioles yet again to complete their second four game sweep in a row. The team now heads to Tampa having won eight straight games.

The Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles again last night, to take three out of the first four games in the series. A masterful pitching outing by Clay Buchholz and a well-timed three run home run by rookie Andrew Benintendi sealed the deal for Boston, who now faces a magic number of 6 to win the AL East Division.

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched a gem, and David Ortiz hit a clutch three run home run to power the Red Sox to another win over the Orioles last night in Baltimore. Here are some images from the game.

The Red Sox continued their winning streak last night, taking the first game out of a four game series in Baltimore. Our Red Sox photographers are traveling with the team throughout the rest of the season, and I’m back in my home town of Baltimore to shoot the series at Camden Yards. Here are some images from last night.

The Red Sox pulled off yet another come from behind victory, leading them to complete a four game sweep of the Yankees last night. Hanley Ramirez stayed red hot, hitting two more home runs in this huge victory.

Now I’m off to Baltimore with the team to shoot another four game series at my old stomping grounds, Camden Yards.

The Boston Red Sox pulled off an unbelievable come back last night, fighting off a 5-1 deficit against the New York Yankees in the bottom of the ninth inning.

In the eighth inning, David Ortiz hit a solo home run to bring the fans back to life. It was the 537th home run of his career, passing Mickey Mantle for 17th on baseball’s all-time list.

Ortiz also hit an RBI single in the ninth to make it 5-3. There were still two on and two outs when Hanley Ramirez sent a 3-1 pitch over the center field wall to win the game in walk off fashion.

It was the sixth game-ending hit of Ramirez’s career and his first for Boston, earning him an ice-water drenching in front of the dugout as the crowd celebrated.

A memorable one for sure, and a blur shooting the end!

Another tough one for the Sox, who lost 2-1 to the Orioles tonight to drop the series. Here are some images from the game.
