In a game that featured six home runs — and one to every part of brand-new Polar Park — the Worcester Red Sox christened their new home with an 8–5 win over the Syracuse Mets. Before the game, the WooSox hosted a pre-game ceremony honoring the inauguration of the newly constructed ballpark which featured Boston Red Sox alumni, members of the Worcester community, introduction of starting lineups, a flyover, and a performance of the National Anthem by singer James Taylor.
