Photos: Cycle For Survival Held At Equinox Boston.

Here are some selects from last week’s Cycle For Survival event at Equinox gym in downtown Boston. In partnership with the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, he nationwide spin cycling event raises money for research for rare forms of cancer.

This is a great event. High energy, vibrant colors, and good vibes. Thanks to Drawbridge Digital for having me cover Boston’s leg of the event!

2017: Year In Review.

Where did the time go? I feel like it wasn’t so long ago that I was building this same year in review post for 2016. I enjoy looking back each year. It’s a good exercise every once in awhile. It helps you see how you’ve gotten better, but also how you need to learn and improve. 2017 was a crazy busy year, but that’s how I like things to be and I’m lucky that they were. I took on as much work as I could, and pushed myself hard this year.

Above is a gallery of my favorite images and favorite memories from 2017. Click on any individual photo to enlarge it. I’ve also included some of my favorite video pieces from the year.

I completed my eighth year as a photographer working in Major League Baseball, and my sixth as a Boston Red Sox team photographer. This was our second year working as the newly formed Creative Services department within the marketing arm of the Red Sox. Already having a year under our belts, our group gelled so well, produced incredible content, and continued to set the standard in sports marketing. It’s a privilege to work along with the photographers, designers, creative directors, and social media gurus at the Red Sox. They are all so talented. As far as the photography itself, I tried to push the limits as far as access and storytelling, and I’m excited to build upon that work in shooting for the Red Sox in 2018.

As in years past, I tried to navigate my full-time Red Sox schedule and take on freelance work. It was great to be back at the BNP Paribas Open with my good friends, and I loved returning to shoot the US Open in New York City for the first time since 2011. I wish time allowed me to shoot more tennis. I enjoy it so much. As you’ll see above, there were several unique sporting events that I got to cover for Getty Images, which I’m very thankful for. I also tried my best to find new clients and maintain relationships I’ve built over time with old ones.

On the video side, I continued to shoot, edit, and produce work. Video is a never ending learning process for me. I’ve tried to up the production quality and value within my videos, and I hope to expand upon that as well in the new year.

It was an eventful year in my personal life, too. I moved from Brookline over to Dorchester to become a homeowner for the first time. One new condo and new car later, I’m a happy guy but it’s time to start saving again. My girlfriend Alaina moved up to Boston from Baltimore after getting a job as a psychiatric nurse at Mass General Hospital. I am so proud of her, and feel so lucky to have her with me. I’m very thankful for the important people in my life – family, friends, colleagues, and mentors – who provide so much support and encouragement every day. You all know who you are.

Thank you as always for following along all year! Happy New Year!

Pumped for 2018.

The Red Sox once again participated in #TheGiftOfSox day, a social media campaign to deliver acts of kindess to fans across Red Sox nation during the Holiday season. This year, Red Sox players and staff fulfilled wishes across New England, including a visit to the St. Patrick’s School in Roxbury, a ticket giveaway to passengers in the jetBlue terminal at Logan Airport, Christmas tree deliveries, and appearances with puppies from the Great Dog Rescue of New England.

Below are photos from the day.

Photos: 2017 AIG Fenway Hurling Classic & Irish Festival.

Yesterday, Fenway Park hosted the 2017 AIG Hurling Classic and Irish Festival. The event featured three 40-minute Hurling matches preceded by a lively Irish festival complete with Irish food, music, and dancing. After two semi-final matches between, Clare defeated Galway in the final match to win this year’s title.

It was nice to shoot a different sport here at Fenway. I was on hand back in 2015 for the first Hurling event, but had fun getting a fresh crack at it. It also helped to have some sunshine and nice light for most of the day. it’s been cold and grey here lately.

Here’s a gallery from the day’s festivites.

Last night marked the final game of the 2017 Fenway Gridiron Series. The much anticipated match up featured University of Connecticut against Boston College. Despite some late game scoring by U Conn, BC took this one 39–16. Below is a gallery of images from the game.

Boston Red Sox Photos: Brock Holt Designs Custom Cleats At New Balance.

Last week, my coworkers in the Boston Red Sox marketing department and I attended a collaborative meeting with the marketing team at New Balance, one of the Red Sox’ top partners, at their global headquarters in Brighton, Massachusetts. After a fantastic discussion and brainstorm of ideas, we learned that Red Sox utility man Brock Holt was also scheduled to visit the headquarters later that afternoon to help with the design of his custom cleat line for the upcoming 2018 season.

After some last minute planning, I was given access to follow Brock inside the design board room to shoot his meeting. Here are a few behind the scenes images from Brock’s visit. A big thank you to New Balance, the Red Sox, and Brock and his family for making this happen.

Here is a gallery of images from the second game of the 2017 Fenway Gridiron Series, a matchup between the University of Massachusetts and University of Maine. U Mass edged out the victory over Maine, 44–31.

Football officially returned to Fenway Park last night, as Brown University took on Dartmouth College in an Ivy League match up to kick off the 2017 Fenway Gridiron Series presented by Your Call Football.

Dartmouth jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, handling Brown 33–10. Here is a gallery of images from the game.

Here are some photos from a game several weeks ago between Boston College and Florida State University. A surprise blowout by BC led to the student section storming the field after the game, which made for a few nice moments.
