Great to be back at it last night after a week off from shooting.

It’s funny how one sees things differently at the beginning of a homestand. Everything seems so fresh and new, and things just go your way more often.

I was pretty busy with some different things to shoot throughout this game, but I was able to get some nice stuff during pre-game and through the first several innings.

This game’s “Thing I Learned”: Watch out for foul balls. I already knew this, but yesterday was just a reminder to always be attentive. Nothing came my way, but there were some screamers up the left field line.

Not too much to say about this game. Ugly baseball all around led to a Nationals weekend sweep of the Sox.

The pre-game ceremonies looked marvelous, however! Read: Can you tell this was the last game of a homestand?

This game’s “Thing I Learned”: In all seriousness, I was able to shoot from some different angles during those pre-game ceremonies, and was able to get some variety into my shots. I didn’t notice until I went back and did a second look through my edits, but I’m really liking this “Play Ball!” shot. This pre-game was a nice break from the norm, and finding new ways to shoot it is something to keep in mind for upcoming games.

“Outfielder Cody Ross and designated hitter David Ortiz answer questions during a kids press conference in celebration of Boston Red Sox ‘Calling All Kids’ Month.”

In honor of Boston Red Sox “Calling All Kids” Month, Cody Ross and David Ortiz fielded the tough, hard-hitting, pressing questions from the three to ten year old media last Sunday morning during a kids only press conference.

These kids were fearless, and I was impressed. “Who was your favorite player growing up?” “Did you like going to school?” “Do you know that you’re going to hit a home run before the game even starts?”

I hope at least one of them in that room grows up to be the next superstar baseball journalist!
