Photos: 2016 Globies Awards.

Last night, I shot the second annual Globies Awards for Fenway Sports Management.

The award show recognized the sports scene in New England and honors the most successful athletes and teams from the previous year.

There were several photographers on hand, each with their own shot list to cover. I was assigned to the “orange carpet” to get athletes as they arrive posed with a bright yellow Mercedes-Benz parked out front of the House of Blues. Got to make those sponsors happy. Then I stayed backstage during the award ceremonies, shooting interactions and posed photos with the athletes after they accepted their awards. There were a lot of moving parts backstage, but it was fun to be there, and was happy to get about 20 seconds with David Ortiz to shoot a portrait of him in the Green Room.

Boston Red Sox Photography: Saturday, June 9, 2012 vs. Washington Nationals.

“Participants of the Pan-Mass Challenge line up with their bicycles along the first base line at Fenway Park after being introduced during a special pre-game ceremony Saturday, June 9, 2012.”

“Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz walks toward the on-deck circle during the first inning of a game against the Washington Nationals Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Fenway Park.”

“Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia looks on from the dugout during the first inning of a game against the Washington Nationals Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Fenway Park.”

Day games are always great, and later afternoon games are even better. I love the light during the two or three hour window before the sun goes down, especially at a beautiful place like Fenway Park.

And while Saturday’s 4:00 P.M. game didn’t produce much peak action (or a Red Sox win) to shoot, I still got some good looking work. It’s not every day that you have bikes on a baseball field, right?

This game’s “Thing I Learned”: Should have worn sunscreen!
