Boston Red Sox Photos: 2018 Photo Day.

Early this morning, the full Boston Red Sox roster of players and coaches posed for portraits during photo day, the annual event that allows photographers to gather content for use throughout the 2018 season.

For us in the Red Sox marketing department, photo day is always a tough but stimulating challenge. How do you create a portrait look and feel that is stylized and creative, yet also simple enough to function in an assembly line style shoot of over 60 subjects in a short time period? This year’s result was a five light high-key set up on white seamless. A bit of rim light on each player gave the portraits the finishing touch they needed to separate the subject from the background.

Above is a gallery of some favorites! A big thanks to everyone in the Red Sox Creative Services and Media Relations teams for making it happen. This day is a true team effort!

Boston Red Sox Photos: 2018 Winter Weekend.

The Boston Red Sox once again hosted a weekend getaway of hot stove fun for fans and families last weekend at the fourth annual “Baseball Winter Weekend” at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The event included a Town Hall Meeting with Red Sox leaders, autographs and photos with Red Sox players, and round-table discussions on a variety of baseball topics. The weekend also included a full baseball festival for fans of all ages and clinics for kids.

Here is a gallery of photos from the weekend.

The Red Sox held team workouts yesterday at Minute Maid Park ahead of today’s game one of the American League Division Series against the Houston Astros.

The Boston Red Sox are the 2017 American League East Division Champions! Behind a good start by pitcher Drew Pomeranz, the team put up 6 runs to earn the final victory needed to clinch the division for the season.

It was a lot of fun shooting the on-field celebration and post-game traditional champagne showers in the clubhouse. Now, we’re on to Houston for the American League Division Series.

Back at it at Fenway for the final homestand of the 2017 season. Going into last night, the magic number for the Boston Red Sox to clinch the division was 3. Unfortunately, the Yankees won and the Sox lost, so the magic number now remains at 3 going into today.

Regardless, the team is in great shape, and we should have an exciting week of baseball ahead.

Boston Red Sox Photos: Thursday, September 14, 2017 vs. Oakland Athletics.

The Red Sox won again yesterday, as Andrew Benintendi went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI to lead the Red Sox to a 6–2 win over the Oakland A’s. It was their third straight series win to complete this nine game home stand.

A favorite jersey dress code was also enforced on the team’s charter to Tampa, so I got a few quick portraits of the players with their jerseys.

Mookie Betts hit a three run home run in the first inning to give the team a lead they would never look back on. Drew Pomeranz also recorded his 15th win of the season. Here’s a gallery of photos from the game.

Photos: Major League Baseball Player’s Weekend Portraits.

This weekend, Major League Baseball held it’s first ever Player’s Weekend. The initiative allowed for players to wear nicknames on their jerseys, and use custom made bats, gloves, cleats, etc. to showcase their individual personalities.

I was asked to shoot formal portraits of several players on both the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles to showcase the uniforms. Here is a gallery with a few of those.
