Portraits: Boston College Women’s Basketball 2019 Photo Day.

I was contracted by Boston College Athletics to shoot portraits of the 2019 Women’s Basketball roster of players, coaches, and staff, as well as their official team photo, for their 2019 photo day. I shot these portraits simultaneously on two setups, a black and a white, with a total of five lights. Running two portrait stations at once is no easy task, but I was able to draw on past experience and execute some simple but effective portraits.

A huge thanks to BC for having me shoot these!

Portraits: Tufts Gordon Institute Student Portraits.

Here are some outtakes from a recent shoot I worked on for the Tufts Gordon Instituteat Tufts University. The institute was looking for individual portraits of the students in this year’s MS and Innovation Management Program. This was the second year in a row we have worked on this project together.

We decided upon a simple three light high-key set up for a classic, seamless look on a white backdrop. All of the students were fantastic to work with, and weren’t afraid to let their personalities show through in front of the camera. Above are some of my favorites from the two days of shooting, converted to black and white.

Many thanks to Tufts University for having me on board!

Portraits: 2018 Boston Red Sox All-Stars.

Here is a set of recent portraits I shot to promote the Boston Red Sox 2018 All-Stars – J.D. Martinez, Mitch Moreland, Chris Sale, Mookie Betts, and Craig Kimbrel. I used a projector beaming an image of stars onto the subjects combined with off-camera gelled strobes and multiple exposure to achieve the look.

I’m happy with how these turned out, and I’m looking forward to exploring more based off of this technique! Thanks to the players for their time.

Photos: Portraits Of Concert Pianist.

Here are a few portraits of concert pianist Lisa Weiss. These were shot in natural light but filled in with a Nikon speedlight firing off camera via pocket wizard remotes.

Portraits: Colorful Seamless Set Up.

Here are some portraits I shot this weekend of my favorite model, Alaina. I’ve been trying to experiment with different types of portrait work lately, as I’m always looking to become more versatile and well-versed as a photographer.

I wanted to go for this colorful look on seamless paper. They have a stock photography feel, but I think this relatively simple lighting set up is valuable and can be applied to many different types of work, either with models, props, or both.

I feel good about the results!

Portraits: Mookie Betts For Axe Bat.

Above is a gallery of portraits of Boston Red Sox outfielder, Mookie Betts, that I shot for Axe Bat and Baden Sports. Axe creates the bat handles that Betts, several other Red Sox players, and many Major Leaguers use on their bats.

Our goal was to showcase Mookie with several models of bats in portraits that could both stand alone as marketable images and also be cut out for use in composite graphics. With that in mind, we decided to place Mookie on gray seamless, and cycle through several different outfits.

Mookie is always great to work with, and this shoot was no exception. It felt good to get a lengthy portrait shoot under my belt! A big thanks to Axe Bats for the collaboration, and to Red Sox Manager of Photography, Mike Ivins, for the assistance during the shoot.

Photos: Shabbat At Temple Israel Boston.

You never know where your shooting will take you. This was a different kind of assignment from the majority of ones I do, but I really enjoyed shooting for Temple Israel in Boston at their Shabbat services last week.

The Temple’s public relations team asked me to shoot some staged portraits of one of the Rabbis, Rabbi Elaine Zecher, and to provide some general coverage of their Qabbalat Shabbat services. This was a delicate act, as technically one isn’t allowed to shoot photos during services. They made an exception this one time, so I tiptoed around and made use of my camera’s quiet shutter mode.

Here are a few portraits and candids from the evening. A big thanks to fellow Boston photographer Elan Kawesch for referring me for this job!

Last night was Dollar Beard Night at Fenway Park, a promotion created after several Red Sox players have grown their beards out as we’ve come down the regular season stretch. The concept was pretty simple: Show up to the park with a beard, or fake beard, and receive a ticket to that night’s game for one dollar.

Before gates opened, myself and a few of the other Sox photographers went out to shoot portraits of the bearded guests waiting in line for their tickets.

These are a few that I shot and liked the best. Some of the beards are real. Others are fake. All were good enough for a dollar ticket, though.
