Corporate Environmental Portraits: Elevate Communications.

Here’s a sampling of new portrait work shot recently for Elevate Communications, the great PR/content powerhouse in downtown Boston. These will be used as the firm transitions through a rebrand on their new website. I shot these in various locations around their office with a simple one (sometimes two) light set up. They are meant to each have variety as stand alone images yet still hold together as a cohesive set thematically and stylistically.

Portraits: Tufts Gordon Institute Student Portraits.

 

Here are some outtakes from a recent shoot I worked on for the Tufts Gordon Instituteat Tufts University. The institute was looking for individual portraits of the students in this year’s MS and Innovation Management Program. This was the second year in a row we have worked on this project together. 

We decided upon a simple three light high-key set up for a classic, seamless look on a white backdrop. All of the students were fantastic to work with, and weren’t afraid to let their personalities show through in front of the camera. Above are some of my favorites from the two days of shooting, converted to black and white.

Boston Startup Photography: Elektrofi.

I was recently hired by Boston biotech startup company Elektrofi to shoot headshot portraits and environmental laboratory photos for their upcoming website redesign. Here is a gallery of some of my favorite portraits and lab images from the shoot. The portrait look is a simple two light set up on blue seamless, and the photos in the lab were achieved with a combination of available light and off-camera strobe.

Portraits: 2018 Boston Red Sox All-Stars.

Here is a set of recent portraits I shot to promote the Boston Red Sox 2018 All-Stars – J.D. Martinez, Mitch Moreland, Chris Sale, Mookie Betts, and Craig Kimbrel. I used a projector beaming an image of stars onto the subjects combined with off-camera gelled strobes and multiple exposure to achieve the look.

I’m happy with how these turned out, and I’m looking forward to exploring more based off of this technique! Thanks to the players for their time.

ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN PHOTOS: YMCA OF GREATER BOSTON.

Above is a gallery of images I shot for a 2018advertising campaign for the YMCA of Greater Boston. I’ve also included some tear sheets from the final product, which is an annual review pamphlet that was distributed within the YMCA community for marketing and promotional use. 

These images were shot over several full days of formal portraits and candid activity at various YMCA locations across Boston. A huge thanks to the great team at the YMCA for having me back on board for this campaign for the second year running!

Portraits: Boston Red Sox At Casino Night.

Last night, members of the Boston Red Sox attended the annual Casino Night at jetBlue Park, a fundraiser that benefits the Red Sox Foundation. It’s not often that you get the entire team together, so we tried to capitalize on the opportunity and set up some stylized portraits of the players and coaches dressed out of uniform. We went for a vintage look with our backdrop and floor, as well as a few props here and there.

Boston Red Sox Photos: 2018 Photo Day.

Early this morning, the full Boston Red Sox roster of players and coaches posed for portraits during photo day, the annual event that allows photographers to gather content for use throughout the 2018 season.

For us in the Red Sox marketing department, photo day is always a tough but stimulating challenge. How do you create a portrait look and feel that is stylized and creative, yet also simple enough to function in an assembly line style shoot of over 60 subjects in a short time period? This year’s result was a five light high-key set up on white seamless. A bit of rim light on each player gave the portraits the finishing touch they needed to separate the subject from the background.

Boston Red Sox Photos: High Key Black & White Portraits.

 

Here is a series of portraits I recently shot for the Boston Red Sox. This season, I’ve made it one of my goals to shoot more portraits of the players, both in studio and environmentally.

For this series, the creative team and I decided to shoot with a ‘high-key’ look and feel. These were shot with a relatively simple two light set up on a white seamless backdrop. We were lucky enough to have outfielders Andrew Benintendi, Mookie Betts, and Chris Young, infielders Xander Bogaerts and Deven Marrero, and designated hitter Hanley Ramirez stop in for a couple shots. My favorite frame of each player is shown above. Additionally, I’ve included some assets created by our talented graphic designers, Marissa McClain and Nick Sciaratta, which the Red Sox have utilized on social media to promote voting for the 2017 All-Star Game.
