“The Weiss house is shown in Lutherville, Maryland Thursday, November 22, 2012.”

On this day last year here in Maryland it was freezing and pouring down rain all day. This year, I got a perfect, sunny fall day to celebrate my birthday. 22 years in the books! Hello 23.

Happy Thanksgiving!

US Open Photography: Around the Grounds

"Fans observe the grounds from the top of Louis Armstrong Stadium at the US Open Saturday, September 3, 2011."

"Birds fly above the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium at the start of the night session at the US Open Saturday, September 3, 2011."

Here’s a few more “Around the Grounds” shots that I was assigned to. I’ve been really drawn to shadow and silhouettes so far, likely because I’m on call to shoot as the sun is setting.

If you’d like, you can check out my second and third galleries full of US Open scenery here and here.

Baseball, Baltimore, and a beautiful August day.

"Guests of a field day event sponsored by Bank of America gather in the visitor's dugout of Oriole Park at Camden Yards Monday, August 22, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland."

"Sun shines behind Oriole Park at Camden Yards Monday, August 22, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland."

Today I had to walk around the ballpark to shoot photographs of some of the various party venues for publication on the Orioles’ ticketing website.

It was pretty mundane work until I got to the press box. I stepped outside to find an absolutely incredible Monday afternoon. Perfect temperature. Perfect breeze. Perfect sky.

So, as I made my rounds, I stopped to take some shots of the stadium and the cityscape from different areas. These are a few from what turned out to be a nice series of images. For some reason, through all these years of coming to games here, I never stopped and actually observed the views the stadium offers. Some of them are incredible, especially on a day like today.

Baltimore Orioles Photography: Friday, August 12, 2011 vs. Detroit Tigers

"The shadow of Detroit Tigers left fielder Andy Dirks is shown during the first inning of a baseball game against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, August 12, 2011 in Baltimore."

"Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis fields a ground ball in the fourth inning of a baseball game against the Detroit Tigers Friday, August 12, 2011 in Baltimore."

"Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy dives for a ground ball in the sixth inning of a baseball game against the Detroit Tigers Friday, August 12, 2011 in Baltimore."

The birds dropped the first of a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers.

I don’t have much to say about this game. These were the only pictures that stood out, and I don’t think they’re anything too special.

This game’s “Thing I Learned:” On Friday nights, I need to lighten my exposure more than I have been while shooting batters. The black jerseys are tougher to work with as it gets darker out.

"Dancers perform during a dress rehearsal of Senior Arlynn Zachary's original work in Todd Dance Studio at Goucher College Thursday, May 5, 2011."

I shot this dance dress rehearsal last night. I was loving the silhouettes.

And now, time to work on my Senior thesis.
